A Culinary Genealogy

In 2006, my mom and I created a family cookbook. We (well Mom, really) collected family recipes, histories, and photographs going back over 100 years. We have been having a great time gathering and compiling this information. Due to the fun we are having, the fact that this project continues to expand, and the enthusiasm people are expressing over seeing the finished project, I have been searching for a way for everyone to have access to the project. I hope that this blog will be the solution.

A Genealogy Hunt

This is sort-of a relaxed blog about my attempts to search, investigate, research, and trace my family roots. It's a collection of my thoughts and trials as I wade through the mass of papers, data, documents, images and ideas that relate to my family connections. Any time I'm presented with an idea or thought I try to realize and understand the source of the information and further, I try to see where I can fit the piece of the puzzle into the Tree. This Blog will always be a work-in-progress as I delve into the past lives and histories of my family lines, the world over. I do not in way shape or form claim to be an expert or a professional, I am just obsessed with genealogy. And maybe that is a good thing.

OK, my secret is out. I am one of 'those people' who loves to wander cemeteries. It's akin to visiting an art museum. It's an opportunity to enjoy rarely appreciated sculpture, intricate carvings and detailed symbols, come rain or shine. It's a chance to let my inner storyteller weave tales around the names and dates on the stones. A totally enjoyable way to spend a day, armed with a camera, plenty of batteries and a picnic basket.
